Split

Because of its central position, with access to both the Central Adriatic (Kornati) and the Southern Adriatic cruising areas, Split is an ideal starting point for your Croatian sailing adventure. It is also suitable for families and groups who don't want to do long passages every day and still have the flexibility of being at a different place every day. The entire area consists of a wide hinterland and many islands. The city of Split is built within and around the fortified Roman palace (much of it remains today). By sailing you can discover many islands and villages that stayed hidden from the outside world for centuries. You will be able to enjoy excellent sailing as the wind funnels down between the islands. Predominantly westerly in the summer, the occasional ‘Yugo’ blows from the south east to keep us on our toes. There are plenty of secure and comfortable marinas around in case it blows a little bit too hard to be anchoring off.
